Greg Apodaca

Greg Apodaca has worked as a digital retoucher in pre-press houses, design studios and advertising agencies in and around the San Francisco bay area since 1995.

Greg got his foot in the door of digital imaging through the world of photography. As an accomplished darkroom printer and copy-worker, he was able to merge a unique set of skills with computer graphic applications. His experience as an artist and freelance photographer gave him a real world view when retouching in 2d.

reality addendum

if any of you read my post a little while back about Scandalishious and her reality show video art, she wrote a really interesting article about it in Bust magazine:

http://www.bust.com/blog/2010/01/24/shaming-famewhores-part-i-on-becoming-a-famewhore.html

And even if you aren't interested in watching the show, the article provides an interesting commentary on the "famewhore" aspect of reality tv and its implications for female stereotypes.

Keith who?

If the Keith Boadwee juried show doesn't turn out in your favor,
keep your chin up and try your hand in Bravo's new "Next Great Artist" show
While the downside is that Heidi Kloom isn't hosting,
you'll be forced to settle for a solo show at a giant museum, and of course,
tons and tons of money.

Who knew reality tv could be art?

my friend Dave told me about this girl he goes to school with in Syracuse,
(http://www.youtube.com/user/scandalishious , http://www.scandalishious.com/)
she's in the Video Art masters program and made a youtube personality with videos that were a really interesting and hilarious experiment that explored narcissism, sexuality, and hipsterness in the internet age,
she used her internet personality to hoax-ish her way onto a VH1 reality show called Frank The Entertainer

who knew reality tv could be art?
From the previews i've seen, she stays on most of the season,
I think she's using it for her masters thesis.
Episode 2 is tonight,
you can see the full episodes VH1's website.
